NEW WINDSOR, NY – State Senate Candidate Tom Basile (R, I, C) released the following statement in response to the filing of a new petition with the Town of Monroe to create the Village of Seven Springs.  Basile posted his initial response online on Friday.

“As I said back in May, this plan is ludicrous and would undermine the hard work of many who have negotiated in good faith to help address the issues of overdevelopment in our area. Everyone must work to keep those agreements intact. I’m staunchly opposed to this new village and the creation of any new layers of government.  More layers of government mean higher costs for taxpayers and land use that is potentially unsustainable. Another village would clearly not benefit our area. While it does appear, after reviewing the petition, that there are several defects with the filing that could mean it will not pass legal muster, the concept of new municipalities should be fought strenuously and constructively by both the public and existing government entities alike.”
