County Executives Day and Neuhaus, and Ulster Legislative Chairman Ronk Back
Basile to Succeed Iconic Senator Bill Larkin

NEW WINDSOR, NY– Coming on the heels of State Conservative Chairman Mike Long’s endorsement, senior elected county officials from Orange, Rockland and Ulster Counties have announced their support for Councilman Tom Basile to replace the region’s iconic Senator Bill Larkin.

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus, Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Ulster County Legislature Chairman Ken Ronk each endorsed Basile, stressing not only his years of experience in government and the private sector but the respect he has among his partners in local government.

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus said, “Tom will be a partner in state government, creating more jobs for residents and fighting to make our area more affordable. The last time the Democrats controlled state government they created the job killing MTA payroll tax, and that is something we cannot afford again. Tom will hold the line on spending, and work with me to continue to grow Orange County's economy. I fully endorse him for New York State Senate.”

Rockland County Executive Ed Day said, “When there are big shoes to fill, it is critical to find not just a fit, but someone who will grow based on a gravitas and quality that is brought to the table from the outset. Tom Basile is just that person. He’s a man with the requisite integrity, honesty and true belief in doing one thing and one thing only...the right thing for all of us.”

“Senator Larkin's lifetime of serving our state and nation coming to an end is leaving big shoes to fill, but the only person to fill those shoes is Tom Basile,” said Ken Ronk, Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature. “Tom has served in numerous positions at all levels of government and he knows how to fix our State. He understands the affordability crisis that we face, and has a plan to fix it. Tom will bring our Hudson Valley values to Albany, and I am proud to endorse him for New York State Senate.”

During his announcement rally on Saturday in Newburgh attended by more than 200 supporters, Basile received the endorsements of Orange County Legislature Majority Leader Katie Bonelli and Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois.

“It is an honor to have the support of three men whom I’ve been privileged to know for years and who have each played integral roles in protecting the quality of life for people in our area. Each has made a profound impact on their counties by putting taxpayers and common-sense government first. Albany too often makes it hard for our local leaders to do their job and provide quality services for constituents. As our Senator, I will be a partner for our local officials, working with them to grow our economy, create jobs and ensure opportunity for everyone,” said Councilman Basile.

Basile, a husband and father of three, businessowner and two-term elected official has promised to be a strong voice in the State Senate for policies that will make our area more affordable. He brings a depth of experiences to the race. Beyond his public service at the state and local level, Basile was as an Advisor to the Coalition Government in Baghdad, Iraq, earning the Joint Civilian Service Commendation. Over the past twelve years he has operated his own business, published a best-selling book, and launched a national radio show. He is also a professor at Fordham University and previously worked as managing director of a New York City-based public relations firm.
